Layering Necklaces: The Simple Start

The Rules

#1: Have Fun!

Use your own style and your favorite jewelry to create a layered look with necklaces.  If you have a favorite necklace that you wear all the time and never take off, start there by adding another necklace when you go out.  Start changing out that extra necklace every few days and you've started your layering journey!  Use this guide to find different looks to go with what you already wear.

#2: Start simple!

Try this simplest combinations first and branch out from there to create your own individual look.

#3: Anything Goes! (Almost...)

Want to create a mixed metal look?  Do it!  Want to mix styles?  Do it!  Just make sure it's visually pleasing and comfortable for YOU!

 INTRODUCTION:

THE SIMPLE START:

Simple Chain with a Pendant Necklace:

The easiest look to create, use a simple cable chain and a vertical pendant necklace.  I've layered a simple gold-filled paper clip chain with the gold nexus vertical circles necklace.

Double Horizontal Centerpiece Necklaces:

This look includes two necklaces with the same type of centerpieces that compliment each other.  Experiment with which should be the top necklace.  If the length isn't right for the look you want, get a necklace extender.  I've combined two sterling silver necklaces here, the mystic circles necklace and the linked necklace.
